Many of you may have noted how I occasionally concoct an elaborate scenario in which I describe a given album’s sound as the potential soundtrack for a movie, a television program, or some other situation. Admittedly, it can be a bit of a crutch, as I place a band’s music alongside another artistic artifact in hopes of drawing a favorable comparison between the two. Believe me – such critic tricks are meant to be complimentary, but mostly it’s because I’m a sucker for any time music is deftly paired with a cinematic counterpart. So hopefully, you’ll forgive me (or maybe squeal with glee) when I declare that Two Dancers, the debut record from UK outfit Wild Beasts, could easily have served as the soundtrack for Edward Scissorhands.
