Excepting the most reclusive of hardcore audiophiles (who probably only listen to music on vinyl in a tiny, darkened, soundproof booth in their basement), most music fans will agree that seeing bands perform live is truly the only way to enjoy their music. Obviously, it is possible to convey heartfelt emotion through a recorded song, but such a medium pales in comparison to hearing one’s favorite group perform that moving piece at a live show as part of an attentive crowd. Even better, live music aficionados will tell you that hitting all manner of events is the best way to learn about new, up-and-coming artists around one’s town, region, and scene. There’s a reason that many young bands make their mark first through relentless touring before ever setting foot inside a studio – there are few things that can replace the valuable experience gained from playing as often as possible.
