The 2008 Nevada Caucuses & the 2008 South Carolina GOP Primary
It was a fun & exciting day in American politics today, as both the Democratic and GOP races have begun to take shape.
1) Senator Hillary Clinton wins the Nevada Democratic Caucus.

2) Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney wins the Nevada GOP Caucus.

3) Senator John McCain wins the South Carolina GOP Primary.

4) Congressman Duncan Hunter withdraws from the GOP race.
McCain has taken a bit of a lead in the GOP race, and while Huckabee & Romney still remain close behind him, but Thompson, Paul, and Giuliani are rapidly decreasing in steam. Thompson appeared deflated by his finish in South Carolina, Paul finished 2nd to Romney in Nevada, and Giuliani still claims that he will be victorious in Florida. Edwards’ poor showing in Nevada did not help his national image, while Clinton & Obama continue to vie for the lead in the Democratic race. Clinton experienced success drawing in the unions and women to her cause, while Obama continues to gain support from minorities (especially African Americans). With the Democrats holding their South Carolina Primary on Saturday, January 26th and the Florida Primary being held on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008, it looks to be an increasingly intense political atmosphere building over the next 10 days.
