Week 4, Day 4
Yup. It’s Independence Day. It’s the day that we Americans set aside the day to remember the day back in 1776 that our forefathers presented a petition of their grievances to King George III , 16 months after the Battle of Lexington & Concord formally inculcated the American Revolution. So, in honor of the words written by Thomas Jefferson and the rather warm Philadephia summer days spent by the Second Continental Congress in debating, deliberating, and signing a document by which American marks its birth as a nation, I want to present my readers with some links to the most important pieces of paper in our nation’s history. On this day, we need to remember why we fought (The Declaration of Independence), what kind of country we fought for (The Constitution), and what kind of liberty that WE THE PEOPLE desired for ourselves in forming this beautiful nation of ours (The Bill of Rights & subsequent Amendments). Please take time to read them and reflect on what this nation is really about — a government by the people and for the people. Happy 4th of July to you all!
BTW — just for fun, I’ve included some random camp pictures after the links. Enjoy!
