Week 1, Day 1

Category: Uncategorizeddryvetyme @ 13:31

The calm before the storm….

Every week officially begins at 1:30pm on Sundays. At that time, troops can begin checking into camp, with all that such a process entails. They get to set up in their campsites, turn in medical paperwork to the health lodge, visit the business office to make any remaining payments, confirm their merit badge classes for the week, take swim checks, and whatever else there might be so that each troop, scoutmaster, and scout are prepared for their week here at Cockrell River Camp & Iron Wheel Mesa here at El Rancho Cima. But this is WEEK ONE! All of our hard work over the past 3+ weeks will begin to bear fruit this week.

The staff is capable ready, but stand on pins & needles because they all want to do a great job for these incoming troops. And this is more than understandable as the first week of any camp is all about ironing out any wrinkles in the various programs that go on around here. They get to hone their teaching skills, what works in any class they’re teaching, and make their program the best that it can be. We’re looking forward to it all, but there are some nerves at work here. Regardless, I do have high hopes for this week and all subsequent ones — this is a great group of kids.
