Morning Breaks Wide Open

Category: Uncategorizeddryvetyme @ 7:43 pm

Morning breaks wide open.

Sun-flecked sky
Waves of blue, crashing into
Immense sheets of grey & black
Pressing
Pushing
Forcing out that which has
Kept me in the dark for far too long.

It was in darkness where
I had willingly hidden,
Surrounded by all I thought I wanted,
Though it only served to keep me
Down.

Down
Pinned to the ground
Fists clenched around
The dumbbells and weight belts
Of my futile exercises.

I released.
Fingers unhinged.
Palms open wide.
I stumbled in my unseeing,
Running from that which I had held
For oh so long,
Fleeing my blindness,
Seeking out any way to see again
Because my eyes stung from
A severe lack of use.

I look about wildly, hoping for a glimpse of a single sliver of light to guide my way.

And there
Leak the vibrant colors,
Stretching wide around
The mountains that frame this dim valley,
Coming to drive out the darkness
So that I might see again,
As never before.

Morning breaks wide open.
