Cleaning House
Set those ideas upon the shelves
where they’ve always been.
The dust they’ve collected is to be
venerated & studied, but never stirred.
Don’t disturb that sleeping dog there,
even if he’s been toothless for quite some time now.
He’s lying in the bed he’s made
& shouldn’t be disturbed.
Stillness & silence reign.
So let our errant thoughts take the blame.
But when our system begins to break down,
why is it the status quo that’s still around?
700 lb donkeys & elephants should be permitted
to linger in any room, even though they tend to
squash all the smaller animals.
Their tempers mustn’t be perturbed.
Disruption can be easier than it seems.
Just forget what they’ve told you and follow your dreams.
Passion should never grow cold.
